Head West Young Man!

An early start is what we were headed for.  Last minute loading of the truck is always fun but was necessary for two reasons.  One the car is a convertible and some of the items are food.  Two the car is a convertible and a major down poor was predicted and did happen.
We all met at just after 7 am.  David Ladnier came out to see us off.  We briefly talked as the last suitcases were loaded into the car.
We said our goodbyes to Tracy and David.  We headed to Darrin's shop so he could finish up one last little detail.  That is where we took this photo of Big Red with the Big Bang Fireworks sign.
Traveling across the south you cross a bunch of bridges some are beautiful and some are super long. When we hit Texas the road construction became quite a nuisance. We were not sure that the car would stay on the trailer.  A good set of straps are worth their weight in gold.
A stop a Buc-ee's is always in order.  The place is full of all kinds of stuff and all kinds of food and snacks of which we bought none.

We met members of the Gulf Coast Region in Katy, Texas. Sandra Johnston, Dean and Diana Forbes and Fran the Newsletter Editor for the region. We had our first of many BBQ dinners at Spring River Creek BBQ. We enjoyed our short break and headed west to San Antonio.
We arrived at trailer parking at sunset.  Unloading the car and getting the trailer parked went quickly. I met Conrad Doss form Huston and quickly became frinds.  His team was also in the roocky class and they drove a 1959 white Corvette. We made our way to the hotel, and very quickly headed to the riverwalk.  We found an Irish Pub and relaxed!
